Mahogany Stick Barometer by Jacob Abraham of Bath

Description

An excellent mahogany stick barometer by this well known and prolific maker.

The silvered brass engraved scale calibrated from 27" to 31", incorporating a sliding vernier and with the makers name, place of work and profession engraved to the top of the scale. The mahogany case with ebony line inlay, exposed mercury tube, turned mahogany cistern cover and rounded top.

Note: Jacob Abraham was working in Bath from 1805 to 1841. He also owned premises in Cheltenham. He is listed as an important Maker and was Instrument Maker to the Duke of Gloucester and the Duke of Wellington.
