Marylebone Antiques has dated this piece to the 1900s.
It's good quality, structurally sound, with good carvings. I'm offering it at a low price, allowing for the bit of work to do. I'm also not entirely sure about the wood. At first I thought it was oak, but it could be walnut or even beech, or maybe a combination. If it's re-polished it will come up really nice, because there is a lovely pattern of grain there. I would say it dates to around the 1910-20's period.
