Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1890s.

The lid is mounted with a brass vacant cartouche which could be personalized by your engraver if desired.
The box comes with a working key and is opened by the escutcheon on the right hand side (the left is a dummy). The lid lifts to reveal a fully fitted top compartment with two ring compartments running at either side, each would accommodate around five rings. The inside of the lid retains it's wonderful original tufted silk lining.

The front doors have a wonderful grand gothic arched windows, both retaining the original bevelled glass. The doors open to reveal the three drawers behind. You can see that all the brass fittings have been painstakingly re-polished to gleam, there's nothing quite like brightly polished brass against rich antique wood. All of the drawers retain the the original blue silk lining.

Either side of the box is mounted with a cast polished brass swing handle to finish off this gem of a box. Excellent condition with a superb antique patination. The footprint measures 11" x 7 3/4" and the box stands 10 1/4" tall.
