Robert Stewart of Bristol Longcase Clock

Description

A fine quality flame mahogany 8 day longcase clock, by Robert Stewart of Bristol circa 1840.

A small proportioned case, with a swan-neck pediment and turned and fluted columns to the hood.

Typical Bristol style case made from choice mahogany, inlaid throughout with boxwood stringing and wavy edge hood door.

Beautiful quality arched japanned dial, with Adam & Eve automata to the arch and finely painted flowers to the corners

Well made 8 day movement striking the hours on a single bell, fully restored by our FBHI horologist with 2 year mechanical guarantee.

Finely fretted original polished brass hands.

Matching lead iron weights and brass faced pendulum.

A very good quality clock constructed of wonderfully figured timber complimented by a well executed painted dial, with unusual automata to the arch.
