Description

A quite magnificent and elegant biscuit box or barrel, by the famous and highly collectible W.M.F. (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik).

This gorgeous Art Nouveau example is lined with a removable Bristol Blue glass liner, still in unblemished condition.

One of the feet have the (worn) WMF mark including EP for Electro-Plated and "I/O" meaning normal silver coating which is equivalent to 1 gram of silver per 1 dm2 of base metal surface. Around the base there is also the pattern number for this piece, 231. The lid also has the marks NS for Nickel Silver and again the I/O mark.

About as stylish as they get in excellent condition. The lid diameter measures 5 1/8" and stands 8" to top of lid finial and 9 1/2" to top of handle when upright.
