Fowey River Antiques has dated this piece to the 1890s.
This is indeed quite rare, very much in the Art Nouveau or Arts and Crafts design it has tripod stand made of brass and has a removable solid brass font.
The cranberry glass shade is just stunning with the white opaque floral pattern which is so typical of the Art Nouveau era.
It is marked with Messengers Duplex Patent No2.
It has been professionally restored with the brass being bright and crisp whilst retaining the patina which you would expect, it is also extremely heavy.
It measures 24" high.
It is in full working order and both the shade and chimney are in perfect condition.
A genuine Victorian oil lamp in the classic and elegant design which would look stunning in a period fireplace.
