A stunning pair of late Victorian or Edwardian Opera glasses dating to the turn of the century, around 1900.

Probably made in France, they are signed by a London retailer, "Stewart Dawson & Co. Ltd., Regent St. W".

The telescopic lorgnette handle extends from 4 7/8" to 8". They are clad in the most decorative Mother of Pearl or Nacre shell with it's magical iridescent qualities. The metallic frames are a blend of warm brass and silver coloured nickel, all having been professionally dismantled, cleaned and put back together, creating a gleaming pair of glasses.

Excellent condition, measuring 4" wide x 2" expanding to 2 1/2". They come complete with a velvet (new) pouch to protect them.
