Bruno Zach was born on May 6, 1891 in Zhytomyr, Ukraine and became a well-known Art Deco sculptor. His life ended in Vienna, where he died on February 20, 1945.

Bruno Zach was interested in the arts and decided to leave his home and birthplace for studying and learning. He went to Vienna, Austria, the famous birthplace of the Vienna Bronze and the foundry Bergmann and started to attend the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.

While Zach attended the Academy, he studied under two very famous Austrian sculptors: Hans Bitterlich, who taught as professor at the Academy from 1901 to 1931 and Josef Müllner, who had been a professor at the Academy since 1910.

The young artist Zach worked during his time in Vienna for many various foundries, where he improved his sculpting skills and created many bronze sculptures.

He finally became famous for his breathtaking Art Deco sculptures of dancing women. The talented sculptor with Ukrainian origins reflected the typical Art Deco characteristics on his sculptures.

The sculptures made by the Art Deco sculptor Zach are nowadays well-known and beloved collector’s items. His bronze figures always reach high prices at auctions all over the world. Some of his best known bronze sculptures are named “A Dancer”, “Girl with a Cigarette”, “The Riding Crop”, “Female Huntress with Hound, “Lady in Riding Outfit with Horse”, “Dancer with three-quarter length Stockings”, “Dancer” and “Kicking Girl”.
