A fabulous find, always highly desirable when a box is inlaid with a date and rarely found.

The box is typically Georgian in appearance with cross-banded edges, Boxwood inlay and a heavy simple cast brass handle to the lid.

The shape of the box makes me feet that is was perhaps a military box used for a hat or wig, something of that kind, especially with the crown inlaid to the front. The top is inlaid with the original owners initials.

The interior has been re-lined in a hand-marbelled paper, creating a fresh clean finish ready for use.

Complete with a working key, this gem remains in superb condition. 11 1/4" x 9 1/4" x 8 1/2" tall.
