A wonderful Victorian egg cruet, always highly sought after in this adorable basket weave and in the form of a basket. Complete with a folding swing handle the top has a small vacant cartouche.

There are six egg cups with rope trim complimenting the rope edging on the basket.

There are also six egg spoons to complete the set with an unknown mark HT E. Each has a small letter B monogram to the front of the handle. The bowl of the spoons fit into a slot at the side of the central floral motif and the handles rest on one of the six rope spoon rests on around the rim of the basket.

The underside has the full mark for top-notch silversmith, Elkington & Mason with a date letter X for the year 1862. Elkington in always the most desirable English plate as these date letters allow us to accurately date pieces.

Excellent condition, the basket diameter measures 7" and stands 5 1/2" tall to top of handle when standing upright; each egg cup measures 2" in diameter and stands 2 1/8" tall; the spoons measure 4 3/8" in length.
