Small Antique French Inlaid Marble Top Bombe Commode

19th century
Description

This small antique French bombe commode is wonderful quality & in good original condition. It has a serpentine shaped front with an original well grained rouge marble top, ormolu mounts, escutcheons & handles. I think the majority of the outside wood is Rosewood & Kingwood, plus there are some wonderful marquetry panels, with many exotic woods & floral inlays. These are on all the drawer fronts & on the sides too. The drawers are chamfered on the edges & they all have original locks. This commode has a lovely original warm colour & has plenty of character. I would date it to around the 1880 period.
