Large Antique English Parquetry Inlaid Box - Inside & Out C.1850

Description

An absolute stunner of a box, with something I have never seen before, the magnificent finely finished interior created from exotic woods

Clearly an expensive piece in it's day and probably a custom box created for a wealthy client. All the sides of the interior are inlaid as is the inside of the lid, all of the timbers in the interior are as fresh as the day the box was made, protected from the sun and oxidation over the last 160 years or so.

The box comes complete with a working key, the lock has only one pin to the top but the lock does catch and keeps the box shut.

A rare piece in excellent condition and a very usable impressive size, measuring 14" x 10" x 6 1/4" tall.
