Atropos Antiques has dated this piece to the 1860s.
Items of furniture such as this were designed to be carried in a folded or 'broken down' state and set up in the field where a level of comfort and civilised amenity were to be afforded best identifying with that expected in quieter and more domestic circumstances at home. This practice sometimes led to extremes where a full sized dining table with silver and crystal, mounted with lit candelabra and attended by liveried 'flunkies' would be set in the middle of the desert or jungle for a dinner attended by those wearing dinner suits and gowns! This little table is more conservative but nevertheless beautifully made and displaying excellent colour and patina.
I have set the table with a few odd items that a pioneer might well have had about him or her when out in the widerness or on the battle field. These are not included in the price.
The table functions perfectly and is ready for use.
