Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1880s.
In front of the handle there is an embossed single initial, I believe L, very discreet if you name doesn't begin with an L.

The box comes with a working Bramah key, a lock of this caliber is only found on the best examples, the lock is signed Bramah, London.
The interior is an absolute joy, lined in deep blue velvet. There are two removable trays creating three layers, plenty of room. The quality again is evident with the top notch hinges.
Excellent condition, there is some wear on the sides of the box (see photos); measures 9" x 6 1/4" x 4 3/4".
