A Good & Rare Pair of Louis Xvi Style Gilt Wood Canopies

Description

A good and rare pair of Louis XVI Style gilt wood canopies. Each canopy having a carved and gilt wood show frame. The backs having a central carved shell cartouche, with beautiful floral carved detail. The swept arms with padded upholstered backs above the sprung seats, supported on carved cabriole supports. Beautifully re-upholstered in a Zoffany patterned silk circa 1900-1920

Dimensions: 48" wide x 34" high x 23" deep (seat 17" high)

Condition: These settees are in stunning condition, retaining the original gilt with minor wear commensurate with age and use. Re-upholstered in a beautiful Zoffany fabric using the original horse hair, but both canopies have new replaced springs.
