Grand Large Antique English Cut Crystal & Silver Plate Biscuit Box C.1880

Description

A top notch example of a Victorian biscuit box in an oval shape, made from the heaviest piece of chunky crystal with stunning decoration and in undamaged condition.

The box stands in it's own silverplated caddy with flared foliate handles, rope twist supports and standing on four bun feet. The underside is marked EPNS for Electro-Plated Nickel Silver.

The hinged lid is topped with a very grand and very English Lion finial holding a shield.

A fabulous heirloom piece in excellent condition. The caddy measures 9 1/2" x 6" foot to foot and the crystal box measuring 6 1/4" x 4 1/2"; the pieces together stand 8" tall to top of Lion finial.
