Description

This antique French Vernis Martin marble top cabinet is in lovely original condition & I would date it to around the 1890 period. It's a wonderful shape, with a rouge marble lift off top, well cast gilt bronze mounts & beautiful hand painted scenes on all four panels. I must apologise for not taking a photograph of it open, but at the time we couldn't find the key & it was locked. We have the original key now & inside is one mahogany shelf with a pierced brass front edge. I believe the wood on this cabinet is Kingwood, although it does have a kind of mahogany colour. The finish is all original & it doesn't look like it's ever been re-polished. It has a wonderful original colour & patina.
