Antique English Stoneware Whiskey Decanter by Taylor, Tunnicliffe & Co. In Silver Plated Caddy C.1888

Description

A most unusual Victorian whiskey decanter in a basket weave pottery with a silverplated collar and spout with a corked stopper.

The decanter sits in it's original silver plated caddy or holder, with a pair of rope handles, complimenting the rope trim on the rim of the decanter. The underside of the holder has a full mark for Gotscher & Co - Birmingham. The caddy stands on it's four original four bun feet.

The ceramic decanter remains in undamaged condition, some usual glaze crazing visible on the underside. The underside is where the full mark can be found for Taylor, Tunnicliffe & Co. There is also an English design registration number for the year 1888.

Excellent condition. The stand spans 7" handle to handle; the flask alone standing 6 1/2" tall to top of collar or 7 1/4" tall when sitting inside it's caddy.
