H.D.GRISET (Fl 1868-1874): an interesting oil painting on canvas depicting a coastal scene, with various figures unloading from a a vessel on the beach, some climbing a path in the foreground, with the sea and further cliffs behind. Original concave ebonised frame; signed lower left corner.

* H.D. Griset is noted as having exhibited four works at the Society of British Artists in Suffolk Street (LONDON) between 1871-1875; he lived in London. See "Victorian Painters" by Christopher Wood, page 192.
