A 12 drawer satin walnut and deal victorian collectors cabinet with a collection of around 1500 moths and butterflies and some other insects. Circa 1890.

This cabinet is in the wellington chest style with a locking side bar and twelve victorian double sided hinged storage drawers in stained deal supplied originally by messrs watkins and doncaster of the strand, london w1.

The drawers open to reveal a collection consisting of british, european and tropical species of moth and butterfly. Many of the specimens carry data pertaining to their origin etc.

This cabinet and collection are both interesting and decorative and one seldom encounters this sort of item these days.
