Description

A beautifully hand carved Meerschaum pipe, the bowl being beautifully created in the form of a very elegant Lady's head of the period, around 1900 when this work of art would have been created.

Meerschaum Pipes are the aristocracy of tobacco smoking pipes. Meerschaum has been used for the construction of pipe tobaccos dating back to the 1700s. During the 1800s, exquisite meerschaum pipes were produced in many European countries, including Vienna, Germany and Switzerland.

I would expect the mouthpiece to be made of Amber, this piece very dark and joined to the shank with a sterling silver collar. The pipe comes in it's original case.

Excellent condition, the pipe measures 5" long, the case measuring 5 1/2" in length.
