Records do survive for a major Bevan commission, the furniture made in 1865-6 for Titus Salt Jnr and installed in 1872 in Milner Filed, the Gothic Mansion designed by Thomas Harris. The Salt furniture was made by Leeds cabinet makers Marsh & Jones (from 1872 Marsh, Jones & Cribb). Bevans sycamore washstand from the main bedroom at Milner Field with its blue grey bardiglio marble top, was made by Pattison, the inlay is by a Spanniard called Vert. It was invoiced on 16 November 1865 at £20 16s 0d.

Marsh & Jones marketed a quantity of Bevan furniture almost identical to the Titus Salt commission including his music stand and occasional table. They also made on license the New registered reclining chair which Bevan first advertised in the trade press in 1865. The design of other imposing Geometric Gothic furniture bearing Marsh & Jones labels is confidently attributed to Bevan on stylistic grounds.

We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
