Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1860s.
The edges are cantered with a Tulipwood trim. The front and lid are framed with intricate Tunbridge style parquetry inlay created from a mosaic of exotic timbers.

The lid is of course what makes this very special with a hand painted panel with the prettiest Spring scene of birds eggs in a nest and Primroses, set in a rural surround; beautifully executed.
The interior has been professionally re-lined in a deep Forest Green, creating a fresh finish ready for use. The top removable lid has a horizontal ring holder to the rear running the width of the tray.
A good large size and in excellent condition measuring 11 3/4" x 9" x 6" tall. A rare find!
