Antique English Mahogany & Brass Postal Scales - Fabulous Waisted Dump Weights

Description

Dating to the late Victorian or Edwardian era, this fabulous pair of letter scales have the most wonderful complete set of bell - shaped weights, amazing to find them all intact, they are so easily lost over a 100 year period.

The base is made from solid Mahogany with it's original finish, just a slight imperfection to this finish at the front, insignificant, shown and mentioned purely for accuracy.

The right-hand pan is engraved with the rates of the day which allows us to accurately date these to post 1897 which is when these rates were introduced. This one is charming including the "Book Post", the Victorians were keen on posting each other little books.

A wonderful set in superb condition, measuring 8 1/4" x 4 3/8" x 3 5/8" tall.
