Castleforge Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1930s.
We came across this wonderful original piece whilst driving through a small village in France recently and dating from around 1930 depicts two greyhounds jumping a fence towards the sprinting gazelle and is set on a marble base with onyx insets.
There is no mistaking the beauty of the form of this wonderful piece and the merit of the Artist that created it.

IRENEE ROCHARD
Animal scultor
Born on January 16th 1906 in Villefranche-sur-Saône (Rhône)
Died on March 29th 1984 in Paris

A student in the Beaux-Arts and Arts-Deco Schools from 1924 to1928
A menber of the French Artists Society from 1938 onwards
He won numerous Prizes and Distinctions,among which:
A Gold Medal at the Colonial Exhibition in 1931

A Bronze Medal from the French Artists Society in 1941
A Silver Medal from the French Artists Society in1948
A Gold Medal from the French Artists Society in1952
From 1965,he was among the panel of judges of the French Artists Society

And the Prize-winner of the Institut de France among numerous other medals and prizes too many to mention here. Rochard was also the creator of the last Paris War Memorial in 1964
Paris City Council bought several of his works in 1937,1950,1954

1965,1968,etc...and so did New-York City Council in 1938
