A Very Fine Rosewood and Mother of Pearl Inlaid Four Glass Wheel Barometer by D.cattaneo & Co of Leeds. Circa 1845.

Description

This fine and beautifully restored wheel barometer has four glasses, the hygrometer to the top followed by a long drop mercurial thermometer, an eight inch reading dial behind convex glass with brass bezel and the rectangular level plate showing the makers name. (d.cattaneo worked at the leeds address between 1840 and 1866. Registered as 'clock and watchmaker 135 briggate, leeds').

The instrument is in excellent working order and the mother of pearl inlay is strong and all intact. The colour and figuring of the 'rio rosewood' veneers are both striking and beautifully aged.

We are well versed in the care and restoration of period barometers with over thirty years experience. We prefer to deliver and set up our instruments for clients rather than trust them to the vagueries of courier delivery, please be assured.
