A Beautiful Victorian Period oil painting by Charles Leader. This landscape painting depicting highland cattle watering by a river with a mountainous backdrop at sunset. In the original double swept gilt wood and gesso frame, English circa 1880-1890

Dimensions: Frame 30" high x 40" wide Canvas 19" high x 29" wide

Condition: This painting is in excellent original condition.

Leader was a prolific artist with as many as 23 of his paintings being recorded. Comparatively little is known of the man's private life. However his artistic work is renowned for Highland Glen or River Scenes. In this painting, he captures the exuberant beauty in a very characteristic way. Two of Leader's works are currently on permanent exhibition at the South Shields Museum and Art Gallery
