Burr Walnut Fitted Sewing Box

Description

A fine quality and very pretty mid-19th century Victorian lady's SEWING BOX in burr walnut, profusely inlaid with engraved brass scrollwork; mother-of-pearl and abalone.

The lid opens to reveal the beautifully fitted interior, with its complete set of EIGHY carved mother-of-pearl cotton reels (fully wound with original cotton!); tape measure; waxer; two silver thimbles; scissors; other tools and various other sewing implements. Fine condition and complete with original key.
