Victorian Dragon Ceiling Gas Light

19th century
Description

An unusual Victorian gas lamp that was converted to electricity many years ago, with the shape and heads of dragons either side.

The wings and heads are a darker brass as are the two lamp holders. The old gas fittings have been removed many years ago so it is not possible to tell where the gas pipe was originally.

Each dragon holds a large glass drop, and the pair of pinky/orange shades are early 20thC and included in the price.

The light is approx 36cm in width and 39cm in length from the ceiling fitting down.

This was recently rewired for the UK market.

Lancaster Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
