London Fine Antiques has dated this piece to the 1850s.
Rising from bun feet with semi-concealed white china castors into the main body featuring four drawers with mahogany linings and original turned knobs.

An inlaid knee panel shows boxwood double stringing which is matched on the upper writing surface. The desk displays a finished back allowing the piece to be used in a setting where it does not have to be placed against a wall.

The upper presents a pleasing work area perfect for regular use. The leather skiver is classic red and is both tooled and embossed - it is in fine antique order in keeping with rest of the desk.
The writing surface lifts to reveal a birds-eye maple lined storage area complete with drawers.

To the rear a raised gallery opens offering writing slots, pens holes and cubbies.
Overall a lovely example in good order providing huge style and practicality. A Davenport desk in this size, quality and condition is always in demand.

Delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
