A Fine French Mantle or Table Clock

19th century
Description

An elegant and particularly fine quality early/mid 19th century French "Portico" mantle or table clock in excellent condition and of a lovely warm colour.

The case is of finely figured "flame" mahogany, embellished with ormolu mounts, the pillars with ormolu capitals, whilst the 8-day movement has an ornate ormolu bezel; engine-turned silvered dial and a fine 'grid-iron' pendulum with ormolu bob.

The movement strikes hours and half-hours on a bell via the outside countwheel, and the pendulum has silk suspension. Full working order and guaranteed for at least two years.
