Applecross Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
35 inches, thus suggesting that the group here offered, standing as it does at 12.50 inches in height, was perhaps one of the earlier figures to come out of the mould. Interestingly, Clive Mason Pope, in his "A - Z of Staffordshire Dogs - A Potted History" { Resego AG ~ 1990 ~ Reissued by A.C.C. Woodbridge ~ 1996 }, not only describes this group correctly, { Page 13, Fig. 1 }, but records the height as 12.50 inches. The figure group here offered is in excellent condition, having but one small firing crack at the animal's throat, which may clearly be seen in Image 4. Height ~ 31.70 cm. / 12.50 inches ~ Width ~ 22.90 cm. / 9.00 inches ~ Depth ~ 10.50 cm. / 4.20 inches ~ Year ~ Circa 1875. ~ Ref. AEVSPAHH2222CMPAH1-23
