London Fine Antiques has dated this piece to the 1870s.
A tri-form base, with gilt metal embellishment at the foot and knee, sweeps into a stretcher plate surmounted by a fine gilt metal finial. The piece then rises through elegant legs into the crown where top caps of bowing crane birds are present in gilt metal.

The main body displays exquisite marquetry to all faces and gilt metal rosettes to the under arch.
The whole displays desirable ebonized finish and fine patina.
The piece is in very good antique order throughout and benefits from wonderful gilt metal castings.

Overall a very pleasing example, both attractively styled and well presented. A classic addition to any setting and very rare in this style, quality and original condition.
It is solid and ready for the home.

87cm (34.3") - Tall
