Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1880s.
The base is made from a solid piece of polished Mahogany standing on four original bun feet. The brass scale is signed Avery and "Warranted Accurate".
The scale comes with a stunning stack of solid brass weights, the bottom one shaped to neatly fit into the base, the others stack on top neatly. Each is marked with the V R mark either side of a crown for Victoria Regina, a true Victorian set, they are also signed "Sheffield".
Excellent condition, the base measuring 10" x 6" x 5 3/4" tall. Letter shown not included.
