Fine Set of Six Buckle Back Chairs - Quality - c1840

A very pleasing and unusual quality set of six early Victorian mahogany dining chairs presented in excellent condition.

The styling is 'pre-balloon back' with the upper forming a buckle shape or 'depressed balloon'. With a simple back-bar and nipped waist the overall effect is elegant and classic.

Adding to the desirability of this set are the boldly reeded front legs with well formed taper and fine turning above and below.

This excellent and robust set of chairs offer great comfort in use with a generous 47cm (18.5") seat height and a wide seat pad. The seat pads are of the drop-in type which makes for easy re-covering should it ever be required. The seats have recently been professionally traditionally recovered and presently wear a quality textile which is in superb condition.

The framing is top quality with mahogany set over oak in the main frame.

Strong throughout and suitable for daily use.
