Large Victorian Carved Bamboo Effect Gilt Mirror Circa 1880

Description

This large Victorian Gilt Mirror, with original bevelled glass, dates from circa 1880.

The carved wooden frame imitates Bamboo with applied trailing foliage and berries.

In the true 'shabby-chic' manner, it is a mixture of bright and worn-through gilt with signs of red bole and gesso, gicing a very pleasing overall effect.

Dimensions:

Height: 66 inches (1.68m)

Width: 45 inches (1.15m)

Condition:

Some of the applied decoration is missing. The blue circle on the mirror is a product of camera flash.
