Grand Antique English Sterling Silver String Box or Dispenser - 1895

Description

Probably the best sterling string box I have had in many a year, heavy gauged silver and about as grand and decorative as they come.

The box is supported on three regal legs with ball and claw feet. The base is is decorated with repousse or embossed floral panels interspersed with a large tied bow with hanging ribbons, the bow aiding to keep the lid on securely.

The domed top has a hole at the top which dispenses the string or twine. Fully hallmarked for London 1895, Victorian in era. The makers initials are also present for the top notch silversmith, Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co: William Gibson & John Lawrence Langman.

Excellent condition, measuring 3" in diameter x 4" tall.
