Mahogany Bracket Clock

19th century
Description

A very good quality Regency Mahogany round top Bracket Clock with ebony and brass inlay. The Clock also has a white dish shaped painted dial and a five pillar eight day movement, anchor escapement and double fusee repeating mechanism which strikes the hours on a bell. The pendulum is fitted with a top regulating adjustment and a holdfast.

The Clock has the makers name :-

Joseph Johnson

LIVERPOOL

Joseph Johnson was working in Liverpool from 1795 - 1827. He died on the 2nd March 1827. Joseph was a highly respected Clock, Watch and Chronometer maker and was credited for making several design improvements to the pocket watch. In 1816 he was trading at 25 Church Street, Liverpool. His work has been and still is on show at the Liverpool Museum.

The Clock movement has been cleaned and serviced.

Width - 11 inches

Depth - 6 ½ inches
