A stunning gothic clock set of very large and impressive proportions.
This is ornately decorated with fretwork and mounted with finials at each corner.
The dial is finely modelled and engraved with a minute ring. The hours are lettered onto 12 individual enamel copper cartouches which are mounted to the brass dial. To the sides of the dial are two large and very nicely modelled winged dragons which form stylised handles. The top of the clock is surmounted by an urn with grotesque masks and a fleur-de-lis finial. Candelabra are conforming in style and surmounted by 4 arms.
The set is of very good quality with crisp, sharp and finely detailed modelling and the brass has a lovely clean and bright finish. This is a heavy and well made clock set.
It is particularly suitable for display in the centre of your room. The candelabra are modelled in the round as is the clock and the rear door of the clock is glazed to allow the movement to be seen.
The movement is of excellent quality and is by the famous maker A D Mougin. It runs for 8 days and strikes half-hourly on a bell. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker and is complete with its original pendulum and bell. Condition of the case is excellent with a bright and clean finish, some minor wear on the high spots. Dial is also in excellent condition with just some very very minor chipping around the outside edges of the cartouches. The candelabra arms are very slightly distorted. The set looks great as you can see in the pictures below!
Complete with original pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
