London Fine Antiques has dated this piece to the Before 1700 period.

Rising from a solid base through paneled sides and offering a '2 over 3' drawer configuration. Swan neck handles and ornate lock escutcheons are present.
The fall flap opens to reveal a very pleasing fitted interior with cubbies, central arched compartment, flanking drawers and hidden quill drawers with simple relief moulding to the fronts. The writing area is generous and the working height ideal. There is a lock and key for the fall flap, however the lock does not throw.

It is very solidly crafted with oak throughout.
Of classic proportions this bureau is a rare find and a perfect example of practicality and style.
A classic English antique bureau with huge charm, history and warmth which will still be desirable in another three centuries time.
