A superb quality, late Victorian, gaming card box. The box is veneered in Amboyna, Kingwood, Ebony and Box woods. There is a wonderful inlaid Greek key band with corner flourishes, and an inlaid centre of mother of pearl and the edging is all in inlaid brass. The box is of rectangular form with slightly domed lid. The inside is all lined in rosewood and there is a lift out tray of bone counters. The box is in excellent condition. the box only ever had a button snap lock which has gone. C.1890.
