Description

A stunning and most unusual Victorian visiting card case decorated back and front with a Tartan or Plaid engraved design.

There is a border around these panels with engraved scrolls showcasing the case's beautiful shape. The centre of the front panel has a vacant cartouche with an engraved outline and crowned with a shell motif.

The hinge works perfectly and once the lid is opened the full English hallmark for Birmingham 1858 can be found together with the highly sought-after Queen Victoria's head duty mark and the initials H & T for the silversmith, Hilliard & Thomason.

Excellent condition measuring 4" x 2 7/8"; weighing 55.9 Grams / 1.8 Troy Ounces.
