Antique English Silver Plated Egg Cruet C.1900

Description

A really delightful example of an egg cruet for four, very elegant, standing on four very stylish Lion's paw feet. The sides below the handles are pierced or reticulated and the naturalistic handles decorated with tiny fruits and foliage.

The four fluted egg cups all have lavishly gilded interiors, each sitting on the stand with a pin keeping them in place. The set comes complete with four egg spoons with a shell motif to the terminal.

Dating to the late Victorian era, the set remains in excellent condition. The stand spans 8" handle to handle x 5" wide; each egg cup stands 2" tall with a rim diameter measuring 1 3/4"; each egg spoon measures 4 3/8".

The underside of the stand has a maker's mark CJA and EPNS for Electro-Plated Nickel Silver; each spoon bears the makers initials HF & Co.
