Stokes Bewdley Single Hand Early Longcase

Description

A good, early oak longcase clock. A slim, well proportioned case with good colour and patination. The original caddy hood pediment. Sound hood fretwork and tapered hood front and rear columns. A 10" brass and silvered dial with corner spandrels. The original single hand dial layout. An 30 hour duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell.

John Stokes of Bedley is recorded in Baillies' 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of The World' book as working pre 1751.
