A delightful 19th century heavy sterling silver ring box in an oval form with a pretty repousse or embossed decoration.

The hinged lid once opened, reveals an velvet fitted interior to accommodate four rings; the interior of the lid is lavishly gilded.

The hallmark is buried within the riot of decoration, marked for the highly sought-after Chester assay office and the year 1898. The makers initials W.A are also present for the well renowned English silversmith, William Aitken.

Excellent condition, 3 3/4" x 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" tall.
