Preddy Langport Grandfather Clock

Description

A Somerset oak and mahogany crossbanded Grandfather clock. A swan-neck hood pediment with brass patterae and central finial. Brass capped fluted hood columns. A mahogany crossbanded trunk door and base panel. A pretty painted dial with a peach and gold leaf to the corner. Date and seconds indicators. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell.

William Preddy of Langport is recorded in AJ Moores 'The Clockmakers of Somerset' book as working in East Street until 1849. Various clocks are also illustrated.
