Arthur Glennie (British 1803-1890), View of the Roman Forum, Rome, Watercolour, Signed and dated 1887.

A superb example of Glennie's distinctive and intricately executed Grand Tour watercolours. This particular example benefits from being in it's original, un-tampered frame with a lovely original inscription on the back.

The inscription reads "Bought in Rome by Henry Lawson from Arthur Glennie the artist, a watercolour by A. Glennie The Forum as it was when he first went to Rome. Price ???"

The reverse also bears framers label for J.L. Hopper of Manchester Road, Accrington.

Please note there is some foxing in the sky area, and these photographs have some reflections due to the watercolour being under glass.
