Antique Gilt Over Mantel Pier Mirror

Description

A wonderful quality narrow tall English 19th century Georgian type cheval Victorian gilt wood pier console table wall over mantle looking glass. This overmantel gilt mirror retains its original mercury backed mirror plate and pine back boards. The whole over mantel has been water gilded in a 24 carat gold leaf and not the inferior oil gilding. Circa 1860. Measures 67”h x 40”w x 2”d ( glass measures 59”h x 31”w – side frame 36” exc. side pieces). Excellent condition with some wonderful distressing character to the plate.
