Top Notch Antique English Brass Bound Amboyna Jewellery Box C.1850

Description

A very, very fine box, stunning quality in a military or campaign style, beautifully brass bound.

Made from Amboyna, the most expensive timber in the world, the box is highly decorative with it's interesting burl and rich cognac colour.

The box is covered in inlaid brass with a shield shaped escutcheon and a plaque to the top with the original decorative initials A G. The sides ar inset with flush brass campaign handles.

The box opens to reveal a beautifully re-finished interior, professionally re-fitted in green velvet, perfect for either a lady or gentleman. There is a removable tray with room below for additional storage.

Dating to around 1850, the box remains in superb condition, measuring 13 1/2" x 9 1/2" x 5".
