Marylebone Antiques has dated this piece to the 1910s.
Still, it's over 100 years old & these slim bureaus are quite hard to find in walnut, especially of this quality. The top & front are burr walnut, with herringbone inlays. The drawers have their original etched brass handles & escutcheons, whilst the locks are all original. The drawers are also well dovetailed & the drawer bottoms are all solid timbers. The loafers pull out to support the writing surface & the inside of the bureau is nicely fitted out with compartments & small drawers. I think the sides are solid walnut & this bureau sits on bracket feet. Like I said, this bureau is a very heavy solid piece & has lots of character.
